4 – Take It Into the Social Space  

Popular social media sites like Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter can help you find topics that are trending. Niche forums are another great place to find topics and keyword phrases that your clients’ prospective customers are into. Keep in mind though…trending and viral also means temporary, so be sure to act quickly and keep checking back at regular intervals for what’s new. 

5 – Swipe Ideas from Your Competitors

Stealing may be frowned upon out in the “real world” but online it is a common occurrence, and can also be profitable if you do it right. Naturally, copying and pasting blog posts from competitor sites is taboo and will get you penalized by search engines and fired by your clients. However, it is perfectly acceptable and smart to locate popular posts from competitor sites and rewrite the posts with a different angle, optimizing for the same keywords.

These are just a few of the tactics you can try when doing keyword research for your clients’ blogs that will help get them noticed in search results.
